Blazers Down Golden Wolves, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (January 9, 2026) - Alvernia University (7-4-0, 6-3-0) dropped game one of its MAC women's ice hockey doubleheader to Hood College (7-4-2, 5-4-2), 2-1, Friday night at the Body Zone.

The Golden Wolves and the Blazers were tied at one after the first two periods of play but the Blazers netted the game winner with eight minutes to play in the contest to secure the 2-1 victory over the Golden Wolves. Alvernia had an opportunity to find the leveler in the final 1:30 after a Hood penalty gave the Golden Wolves the advantage but Hood's Maggie Grijalva made four clutch saves for the Blazers to keep Alvernia out of the net.

How it Happened

  • The Blazers grabbed the 2-1 lead with eight minutes to play in the third period when Alyssa Wilson assisted Sofie Ancona to give Hood the one goal advantage late in the game.
