Aston, Pa. (October 20, 2026) – Alvernia women's soccer (5-5-4, 2-2-2 MAC) committed a crucial foul with under ten minutes remaining, which led to a draw with Neumann (2-9-3, 0-3-2 MAC), as each game proves more critical toward a potential Commonwealth playoff berth.
In their first match up since 2007, now as MAC Commonwealth foes, Alvernia's Abby Stair broke the ice and scored her second goal of the season in the 19th minute of play. The Golden Wolves held the lead for 68 minutes before fouling the Knights inside their box and gifting them a penalty kick that ultimately tied the match and led to a draw, their fourth of the season and second in conference play.
How it Happened:
- The Golden Wolves got to work early as Emily Walter fired a shot on goal that was turned aside by the Neumann goalkeeper just within the second minute of play.

- Minutes later, Abby Stair forced a corner kick for the Golden Wolves. Tayler Flaherty sent a high-flying ball into the box that was punched away by the Neumann goalkeeper but found the foot of Abby Stair, who tapped the ball into the back of the net to break the ice and take a 1-0 lead.
- The remainder of the half belonged to the Golden Wolves, who outpaced the Knights in shots, 11-4.
- The Golden Wolves held the lead for 68 minutes until they made a crucial error inside the box that gave the Knights a golden opportunity to even the game with a penalty kick.
- Neumann connected and evened the match with just seven minutes remaining to force the draw.
- In desperation, Sarah Ashley took a strike that was net-bound with just under one minute to play, but the Neumann goalkeeper sprawled out and made a great diving save to keep the Golden Wolves at bay and earn her team the draw.
