Golden Wolves Draw Conference Opener to Blazers

Frederick, Md. (October 3, 2026) — Alvernia Men's Soccer (4-4-2, 0-0-1 MAC) draws with the Hood College Blazers (4-5-1, 0-0-1) in their conference play opener, 0-0.

How It Happened:

  • Hood got off to a fast start in the first half that was a back-and-forth battle with no real offensive traction from the Golden Wolves. The Blazers outmatched the Golden Wolves in corners, 7-2, and took six total shots to Alvernia's one. Both teams went into the half knotted at 0-0. Neither team recorded a shot on goal in the first half.

  • Alvernia stacked a flurry of sustained offensive pressure to open the half, but the pressure proved not enough to break the ice. Graeson Reece recorded a shot on goal that was turned aside by the Blazers goalkeeper, and Joseph Washington took a pair of shots on the Blazers within the first five minutes of play in the second half.

  • With just under three minutes to play in the game, Hood, who was holding strong offensive pressure, flicked a ball over and into the Golden Wolves' 18-yard box, where Andrew Etkin flew off his line and made a crucial stop to keep the Blazers at bay. Less than two minutes later, in a last-ditch effort, the Blazers were awarded a corner kick that Etkin came off his line to get up and out of harm's way.

Inside the Box Score:

  • Joseph Washington led the way for the Golden Wolves with two total shots, while Graeson Reese accumulated the only shot on goal for the Golden Wolves.

  • Andrew Etkin made two saves, with two critical stops in the last three minutes of play to earn the shutout, his first and the team's second of the season.
