Golden Wolves Split Series at Alvernia Tri-Match

Reading, Pa. (October 3, 2026) — Alvernia Women's Volleyball (7-6) split 1-1 in their annual tri-match against Rutgers-Camden (10-7) and Delaware Valley (2-13) Saturday on Jack McCloskey Court.

Match One: Rutgers-Camden 3, Alvernia 1

How It Happened:

  • Set one began as a feeling-out process with both the Golden Wolves and Scarlet Raptors trading points back and forth that led to a 7-6 score in favor of Rutgers-Camden. A flurry of offensive attacks from the Scarlet Raptors sparked an 11-3 run to take an 18-9 lead over the Golden Wolves. Despite the nine-point deficit, the Golden Wolves continued to battle, but ultimately fell short with the Scarlet Raptors taking the first set 25-16.

  • Both teams exchanged points in the second set, which started at a 6-5 stalemate that slightly leaned toward the Scarlet Raptors. Olivia Jones connected on three attacks during the opening sequence of the stanza to garner three kills of the Golden Wolves' five points. Rutgers-Camden powered off the back of a 4-0 run to create separation from the Golden Wolves that they would hold for the remainder of the second set. The Golden Wolves stared down a seven-point deficit at 21-14 and fought back to give the Scarlet Raptors a fight, quickly erasing the lead and now trailing 24-21. The Golden Wolves were unable to complete the comeback, and the Scarlet Raptors went up 2-0 in the match.

  • The Golden Wolves avoided the sweep with a massive win in set three. Rutgers-Camden quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead that the Golden Wolves matched to bring the set to a 5-5 stalemate. The Golden Wolves used a 12-3 run to take a commanding 16-8 lead. Olivia Rohrbaugh and Allison Wolf combined for three kills of the Golden Wolves' 12 points during the run. Despite the Scarlet Raptors' best efforts to erase the eight-point Alvernia lead, the Golden Wolves rode the momentum of the run all the way to the winning point and took the set 25-18.

  • Knotted at seven apiece, the fourth set swung in favor of the Scarlet Raptors, who fired off a 12-4 run and took a 19-11 lead over the Golden Wolves. With only six points left to secure, the Scarlet Raptors kept the Golden Wolves at bay and took the match 3-1.

Match Two: Alvernia 3, Delaware Valley 1

How It Happened:

  • In the opening stanza, both teams traded points back and forth, knotted at 12 apiece. The Golden Wolves drew away just slightly off the back of a 5-2 run to take a 17-13 lead with just eight points left to secure set one. The Aggies charged back and went on a 12-7 run to edge out the Golden Wolves for set one. Allison Wolf and Casey Treude combined for seven kills in the first set.

  • Set two continued the trend of back and forth, with both teams taking and holding leads at different periods of the set. The Golden Wolves hopped out to an early 5-1 lead, but did not hold it long as, soon after, the game was back even at 10-10. Both teams exchanged leads, with the Golden Wolves ultimately taking the most important lead change to avoid going down 2-0 in the match. Knotted at 21-21, a 4-1 run featured by two kills from Allison Wolf secured the final four points of the match and headed to set three to break the tie.

  • With both teams so evenly matched in the first two sets, nothing was to change in the third set, with both teams going back and forth for points and a deadlocked tie at 12-12. Delaware Valley sparked what seemed to be a late, set-ending 8-3 run to take a 20-15 lead, but the deficit did not prove to be too much for the Golden Wolves. They clawed back into the set and equalized the score once again at 22-22 off a kill from Casey Treude. With both teams on the brink of going down 2-1 in the match with a tied 24-24 set, Casey Treude and Allison Wolf stepped up for the Golden Wolves and delivered consecutive kills to finish the third set 26-24 and take a one-set lead going into the fourth.

  • The fourth set did not mimic the similar flow of the previous three. The Golden Wolves quickly jumped out to an 8-4 lead. Courtesy of three kills from Zoe Velez and two from Casey Treude, the Golden Wolves took a commanding lead, now leading the Aggies 22-12. Despite the Aggies' best efforts, the Golden Wolves were able to put the set away and secure the win against Delaware Valley, 3-1.
