Cabulis Nets OT Winner, Golden Wolves Down Dutchmen, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (February 20, 2026) - Leo Cabulis buried the puck into the back of the net in the final 36 seconds of the overtime period to power Alvernia University (15-10-0, 13-8-0) to a 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley College (8-14-3, 8-10-3) Friday night in a MAC men's ice hockey regular season finale at Body Zone. 

The Golden Wolves held a 1-0 lead after the second period and but the Dutchmen leveled the score in the final seven minutes of the third period to send the game to overtime. Alvernia then controlled the overtime period until Keegan Driscoll connected with Leo Cabulis who fired the puck into the back of the net to secure the 2-1 victory over the Dutchmen. 

With the win, the Golden Wolves end the season with 15 wins, the most in a single season in program history. Their 13 conference wins is also the most MAC wins in program history. 

Alvernia is locked in as the #4 seed for the second annual MAC Men's Ice Hockey playoffs. The Golden Wolves will travel to #1 Neumann University next Saturday for a MAC semifinal matchup. The Knights took the season series, 2-1, but the Golden Wolves hold the all-time series record with six wins to Neumann's four. 

How it Happened 
  • The Golden Wolves controlled the first period and rattled off 18 shots on goal to LVC's five in the period but Lebanon Valley's Chris Branch saved all 18 of them to keep the game tied at zero heading into the first intermission. 
  • Alvernia grabbed the lead in the first three minutes of the second period after Keegan Driscoll connected with Charles Becnel, Becnel then dished the puck to captain Sawyer Senio on the back post and Senio did not miss as he slotted the puck into the back of the net to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0. 
  • The Golden Wolves then went on to fire 11 more shots on the Dutchmen goal but they were unable to add to their lead as they took a one goal lead into the final intermission. 
  • Alvernia controlled the offensive zone to start the third period and rattled off 11 shots on goal in the first 13 minutes of the period before the Dutchmen found the game tying goal with just under seven minutes to go in the third period to tie the game at one. 
  • The Dutchmen then sent seven shots at the Alvernia net in the final seven minutes of regulation but were unable to put the puck into the back of the net as the game headed to overtime locked at one. 
  • The Golden Wolves rattled four shots at the LVC net before Cabulis found the game winner in the final 34 seconds of the overtime to give the Golden Wolves the 2-1 victory and cap the regular season with a win. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Leo Cabulis and Sawyer Senio both netted goals for the Golden Wolves and Cabulis recorded a team high 13 faceoff wins. 
  • Keegan Driscoll dished out two assists on the evening and Charles Becnel and Matthew Davies both tallied an assist. Driscoll also matched Cabulis at the faceoff dot with 13 faceoff wins. 
  • Connor Graham recorded just 15 saves in net for the Golden Wolves thanks to the Alvernia defensive unit holding the Dutchmen to just 16 shots on goal.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Neumann next Saturday for a MAC semifinal. Puck drop is set for 4:00 PM.
