Frederick, Md. (February 25, 2026) - Alvernia University (14-11, 8-6) dropped a MAC Commonwealth semifinal clash to Hood College (23-3, 13-1), 109-93, Wednesday night at Hood's Woodboro Bank Arena.
The Blazers held a ten point, 50-40 lead at the half and the Golden Wolves cut the deficit to nine, 98-89, with under four minutes to play in the game but the Blazers ended the game on an 11-4 scoring run en route to the victory.
How it Happened
- Alvernia took the early lead after the first five minutes of the game and started the game on a 12-8 scoring run but the Blazers bounced back with a 25-9 scoring stretch over the next seven minutes of play to swing the lead in their favor, 33-21.
- Rasheem Dearry ended the run and knocked down a three ball that sparked a 11-3 Golden Wolves run over the next two and a half minutes to pull Alvernia back within four, 36-32, with under five minutes to play in the first half.
- The Golden Wolves and the Blazers traded three point buckets before Hood rattled off an 11-5 run to end the first half and took a ten point, 50-40 lead heading into the halftime break.
- The Blazers then came out hot at the start of the second half and went on a 27-18 scoring run to start the second half and pushed their lead to 19, 77-58, with 12 minutes to go in the half.
- The Golden Wolves then began to chip at the lead over the next seven minutes and went on a 24-15 scoring stretch thanks to ten points from Elijah Hamilton and Dearry that brought the Golden Wolves within ten, 92-82, with five minutes to play.
- Alvernia and Hood traded buckets back and forth over the next minute as the Blazers held a 96-86 lead at the under four media timeout.
- That was the closest the Golden Wolves would get as the Blazers ended the game on a 13-7 run that secured the 109-93 victory over the Golden Wolves.

- Elijah Hamilton and Janye Stanley both led the Golden Wolves in scoring with 24 points each. Hamilton shot 10-16 from the floor and 4-5 from the free throw line and added five rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block. Stanley knocked down a season high seven three pointers in his 24 point performance and also grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists.
- Rasheem Dearry tallied 23 points, five rebounds and four assists and knocked down four shots from beyond the arc.
- Mason Jones rounded out the Golden Wolves in double figures with 11 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.
