Colonels Best Golden Wolves in MAC Semifinal

Wilkes, Pa. (Feb. 28, 2026) - #4 Alvernia Women's Ice Hockey fell to the top-seeded Colonels of Wilkes University by a 5-0 decision on Saturday afternoon in the 2026 MAC Women's Ice Hockey semifinal game.

The Colonels got on the board just under eight minutes into the contest on a goal by Renee Ng. They took a 2-0 lead two and a half minutes later on a goal from Drew Hurst. Alvernia held Wilkes scoreless the remainder of the period to stay within two.

Wilkes took a 3-0 lead just under five minutes into the period with a goal from Haylee Bouchard, and, just 35 seconds later, took a 4-0 lead on a goal by Nina Hudakova. The Colonels added one more with 35 seconds remaining in the period to make it a 5-0 game going into the third. Alvernia held Wilkes scoreless in the third period, but the Golden Wolves could not find the back of the net as Wilkes secured the 5-0 win to advance to the 2026 MAC Championship game.

Stephanie Skorupa finished with 36 saves in net for Alvernia. Erin Schutt led Alvernia with five total shots, while Emma Hart, Kathryn Palmer, and Khenzie Connick each had two shots on goal. 

A pair of Golden Wolves closed out their careers with milestones in the setback. Gillian Evans played in her 100th career game. Carolyn Burton recorded two blocks in the game, surpassing 100 blocks on her career. She finishes her time at Alvernia with 101 blocks.
