Golden Wolves Take Down Knights, 29-14

Reading, Pa. (February 6, 2026) - Alvernia University posted a 29-14 dual victory over Arcadia University Friday night in a MAC men's wrestling dual on Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

The Golden Wolves jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first four bouts of the evening and never looked back as Alvernia grabbed seven of the ten matches en route to the victory.

How it Happened

Alvernia took the lead after the first bout of the evening thanks to an Ethan Staples 11-1 major decision over Hobe Givens at 125 pounds. Alvernia's Steven Harris then received a forfeit at 133 pounds to make it a 10-0 Alvernia lead.
The Golden Wolves pushed the lead to 16-0 after the 141 and 149 pound matches thanks to two hard fought decisions from Quinn Tobin and Chance Babb. Tobin recorded a 3-0 decision over Arcadia's Lucas Tirpak at 141 pounds and Babb followed Tobin with a 7-4 decision over Caden Frost at 149 pounds.
The Knights got on the board with a 16-6 major decision from Wyatt Leduc over Ian Vitalo at 157 pounds to make it 16-4 Alvernia.
The Golden Wolves got back on track with a Luke Thomas ,8-0, major decision over Riley Gutierrez at 165 pounds and Jake Ebaugh stepped up at 174 pounds and tallied a 4-2 decision over Chris Cratsley to push the Alvernia lead to 23-4.
Hayden McLellan was the final Golden Wolf to post a victory tonight with a pin at 184 pounds. McLellan made quick work of Arcadia's Jagger Gray and posted a victory by fall in just 43 seconds to push it to 29-4.
Arcadia would go on to take the final two bouts of the night with a pin at 197 pounds and a 9-0 major decision at 285 pounds but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the 29-14 victory over the Knights.
Sebastiano Spina and Ryan Lepore wrestled exhibition matches for the Golden Wolves prior to the dual and Lepore posted a 25-13 major decision over Arcadia's Kehinde Mogaji.

Up Next

The Golden Wolves are back in action next Friday when they host Albright in their final dual of the season before the NCAA Regional tournament. Prior to the dual, Alvernia will recognize its 2026 senior class at 7:00 PM.
