Knights Hold Off Golden Wolves, 7-5

Glenside, Pa. (Mar. 4, 2026) - After being tied at the half, Arcadia University (4-0) outscored Alvernia University (1-4) 4-2 in the second half to secure a 7-5 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday evening in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Arcadia. 

The Knights took an early lead before a three goal stretch by Alvernia gave the Golden Wolves the 3-1 advantage early in the second quarter. But, the Knights answered with two straight to close out the half and even it up at 3-3. Arcadia kept it rolling with another four straight to extend its run to six to take a 7-3 lead going early in the fourth quarter. Alvernia scored the final two goals of the game, but could not catch the Knights.

How it Happened
  • After a scoreless ten minutes to open the game, Arcadia got on the board with a goal with five minutes to play in the opening quarter. But, Alvernia answered three minutes later with a player-down goal by Hannah Tyler off the assist of Gracie Brower with 2:20 to play in the quarter.
  • Alvernia took the 2-1 lead on another goal by Tyler, just time off the assist of Lindsay Kerchner 30 seconds into the quarter. Less than a minute later, Kerchner scored one of her own off the Brower assist to take a 3-1 lead with 13:46 to play in the half. But, Arcadia scored the final two goals of the quarter to tie the game at 3-3 going into the second half.
  • Arcadia kept it rolling and scored the first four goals of the second half to take a 7-3 lead with 14 minutes to play.
  • A goal by Grace Weissenberger off the assist of Brower got Alvernia back on the board and within three, 7-4, with 12:16 to play. But, the Knights held Alvernia scoreless until there was 30 seconds to play and Weissenberger scored a man-down goal to get within two, 7-5. But, Alvernia ran out of time as Arcadia came away with the 7-5 win.

  • Gracie Brower led Alvernia with three points off of three assists.
  • Grace Weissenberger finished with two points off of two goals. 
  • Cailyn Hawley led Alvernia with six draw controls. She also tallied three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
  • Mia Martin finished with a team-high four ground balls and four caused turnovers. 
  • Addison Bolz finished with 11 saves in goal.
  • Arcadia outshot Alvernia 31-13.
