Big Third Quarter Leads Golden Wolves Over Knights, 13-7

Reading, Pa. (March 7, 2026) - Alvernia University (3-1) netted four goals in the third quarter and held Neumann University (0-4) scoreless in the third en route to a 13-7 victory over the Knights Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's lacrosse tilt on Alvernia's Turf Field. 

The Golden Wolves held a 7-4 advantage at the half and then pushed that lead to 11-3 after the third quarter. The Knights tallied three goals in the fourth quarter to Alvernia's two, but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the six goal, 13-7, victory. 

Alvernia's Jimmy Sparacio continued his impressive offensive run of form and tallied six points off four goals and two assists. Ethan McManus also netted four goals and added an assist and four other Golden Wolves found the back of the net. 

How it Happened 
  • Neumann got on the board first with a goal from Matt Morris just a minute and three seconds into the game but the Golden Wolves answered with goals from Keegan Driscoll and Connor Stockton to grab the 2-1 lead. 
  • Alvernia pushed the lead to two, 3-1, three minutes later when Zackary Moats connected with Jimmy Sparacio to extend the Alvernia lead to two. 
  • The Knights pulled two goals back to tie the game at three after scoring two goals within 16 seconds of each other to make it a 3-3 game. 
  • The Golden Wolves then responded with two goals in the final 28 seconds of the first quarter thanks to goals from McManus and Sparacio to put Alvernia up 5-3 heading to the second quarter. 
  • Neumann cut the Alvernia lead to one, 5-4, three minutes into the second quarter but Alvernia answered again with two goals in the final eight minutes of the half to give the Golden Wolves a three goal, 7-4, advantage at the half. 
  • The Golden Wolves came out of the halftime break and broke the game wide open with a four goal quarter that extended their lead to seven. McManus started things off with just over eight minutes to go in the quarter thanks to a feed from Stockton. Driscoll then netted an unassisted goal before Jack Natyshak assisted Sparacio to make it a 10-4 ballgame. 
  • Alvernia's Jackson Schools then connected with Charles Oberman to cap the four run quarter and pushed the Alvernia lead to seven, 11-4. 
  • Neumann netted a goal in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter but Alvernia hit back with two goals from Natyshak and McManus to push the lead to eight, 13-5. 
  • The Knights tallied two goals in the final two minutes of the game but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the 137 victory over the Knights. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Jimmy Sparacio led the way with four goals and two assists for a total of six points. Sparacio also picked up five ground balls and tallied nine shots on goal. 
  • Ethan McManus also netted four goals on the afternoon, dished out an assist and picked up six ground balls. 
  • Keegan Driscoll scored twice for the Golden Wolves and recorded an assist. Connor Stockton and Jack Natyshak both tallied a goal and an assist and Charles Oberman netted a goal as well and picked up four ground balls. 
  • Zackary Moats, Jackson Schools and Wesley Clemison all dished out assists for the Golden Wolves and Christian Wright picked up a team high ten ground balls and caused two turnovers. 
  • Jack Kenney recorded 16 faceoff wins on the day for Alvernia and picked up six ground balls. Kenney also eclipsed 600 career faceoff wins and is the first Alvernia Men's Lacrosse player to record 6000 career faceoff wins. 
  • Jack Mancha recorded eight saves in net for Alvernia and earned the win.
