Alvernia Falls to #8 York in Season Finale

Reading, Pa. (April 25, 2026) - Alvernia University (8-8, 2-5) finished the regular season with 22-3 loss to #8/#15 York College (16-1, 7-0) on a rainy Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Alvernia. 

The Spartans took a quick 4-0 lead through the first two and a half minutes of action and pushed it to an 8-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. York tacked on another eight goals in the second quarter - including a buzzer-beater to close out the frame - to take a 16-0 lead into the half. The Spartans outshot Alvernia 40-7 overall and 26-2 on goal in the first half. 

The Golden Wolves held York to just two goals in the third quarter while Alveria got on the board with a pair of goals by Keegan Driscoll. The Spartans took an 18-2 lead into the final 15 minutes. 

The Spartans tacked on three more goals in the fourth quarter to take a 21-2 lead with a minute to play. But, Driscoll had the final shot and goal of the game to secure the hat-trick as York came away with the 22-3 win.

Driscoll led the way for Alvernia with three goals. Wesley Clemison finished with two caused turnovers and a team-high eight ground balls. In net, Nathan Byrne finished with 21 saves.

Alvernia finished the year with an 8-8 overall record, marking its best finish in program history in both total wins and win percentage. Alvernia also went 2-5 in MAC Commonwealth play. Jimmy Sparacio also finished the season with 47 goals, marking a new single-season record for Alvernia.
