Golden Wolves Drop High Scoring Affair to Roadrunners, 17-15

Reading, Pa. (April 7, 2026) - Alvernia University (12-16) fell in a non-conference baseball clash with Ramapo College (16-8), 17-15, Tuesday night in Angelica Park.

The Golden Wolves jumped out to an early 9-3 lead after putting up four runs in the first inning and five more in the second but the Roadrunners tallied three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to take a 10-9 lead. Alvernia leveled the score in the bottom of the fourth and then grabbed a three run, 13-10 lead thanks to three more runs in the bottom of the sixth but a five spot in the seventh and two more runs in the eighth gave Ramapo a 17-13 lead. Alvernia would pull two more runs back in the home half of the eighth inning but it was not enough as the Roadrunners secured the 17-15 victory.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning after Harold Ivery III ripped a two RBI double into the right center gap and Will Woodring followed with a two run bomb over the left field wall to put the Golden Wolves up four.
  • Ramapo responded with three runs in the top of the second inning after a bases loaded walk forced in a run and then a two run single through the right side plated to more and cut the Alvernia lead to one, 4-3.
  • The Golden Wolves bounced back and answered with a five run frame in the bottom of the second inning to take a six run, 9-3 lead. Jake Chapman and Timmy Hitchcock both worked bases loaded walks to score runs and then Ivery III tallied a sacrifice fly to right field that scored another run to make it 7-3. Woodring then added to his RBI total with a two RBI single that snuck just inside of the left field line and added two more runs and pushed the Alvernia lead to six, 9-3.
  • The Roadrunners hit back with three more runs in the top of the third inning with an RBI single and a two run homer to dead center pulled Ramapo within three, 9-6.
  • Ramapo then grabbed the lead in the next inning with a four spot to take the 10-9 lead. An Alvernia balk scored the first run of the inning before Ramapo tallied an RBI single and an RBI double to tie the game at nine. The Roadrunners then took the lead with an RBI groundout to make it a 10-9 game.
  • The Golden Wolves answered back with an RBI single off the bat of Woodring to tie the game back up at ten a piece.
  • Alvernia then grabbed the lead back in the bottom of the sixth with a three run frame to take a three run lead. Logan Nelson gave the Golden Wolves the lead with a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Ivery III before Jack Zabarsky ripped an RBI single to center field to score another run and made it a 12-10 game. Mike Mele rounded out the three run inning with another sacrifice fly to right center that scored Joe Glass and gave Alvernia a 13-10 lead.
  • The Roadrunners' offense then turned it on and pushed five runs across the plate in the top of the seventh inning to take a 15-13 advantage before tacking on two more insurance runs in the eighth inning.
  • Alvernia grabbed two runs back in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 17-15 game thanks to a two RBI single to center off the bat of Jake Chapman but it was not enough as the Roadrunners held on for the 17-15 victory.
