Alvernia Announces Addition of ACHA Division II Men’s Club Ice Hockey Program

Reading, Pa. (April 9, 2026) - Alvernia University Athletics announced on Thursday the addition of a Division II Men's Club Ice Hockey as part of its sport offerings. Alvernia will continue to sponsor Division III Men's Club Ice Hockey along with the sponsorship of its NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Ice Hockey programs.

Alvernia's new Division II Men's Club Ice Hockey (M2) team will be a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and will participate within the M2 Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference of the ACHA. Alvernia's existing Division III Men's Club (M3) Ice Hockey team will continue with its membership in the Delaware Valley College Hockey Conference.

"We are excited to announce the expansion of our club ice hockey offerings to include an ACHC Division II club team," said Cory Beddick, Director of Athletics and Recreation.

Alvernia's Division II program will launch this fall as a member of the M2 Division of the ACHA. Alvernia's M2 program will be eligible for postseason play beginning in 2027-28. Anthony Borelli, who has been an assistant coach with the M3 club program since 2021, will be the head coach of the M2 program.

"Alvernia University and our athletic department are committed to our ice hockey programming," added Beddick. "We believe that Alvernia can be a destination for our student-athletes looking to get a first class education, while also continuing to compete at a high level on the ice."

Alvernia's M2 program will join the M3 program and NCAA Men's and Women's programs at Body Zone for practice and competition. The addition of the M2 program will put Alvernia's total athletic offerings to 33 programs.
