Annville, Pa. (September 1, 2026) - On Tuesday afternoon, the Alvernia University (0-1) women's volleyball team fell in three sets to Lebanon Valley College (1-0) in a non-conference matchup.
Errors plagued the Golden Wolves in the first set, with the Dutchmen finishing on a 10-0 run to win 25-13. In the second set, Alvernia fought hard and captured multiple leads throughout the frame. However, another late push from Lebanon Valley propelled the Dutchmen to a 25-18 set-two win. In the final set, despite trailing 16-10, the Golden Wolves responded and fought their way back to cut the deficit to 17-15. Lebanon Valley would not relent, closing out the match by scoring eight of the final 10 points to sweep the Golden Wolves.

Both teams exchanged points through the first set, with the Dutchmen grabbing an early 5-4 lead. A kill from Olivia VonNeida and three Dutchmen attack errors kept the Golden Wolves close. Following a flurry of points from Lebanon Valley, Alvernia trailed 12-6. Points from Casey Treude, Zoe Velez, and Allison Wolf kept the Golden Wolves within striking distance at 15-13.

However, the Golden Wolves were plagued by attack errors to close out the first set, allowing Lebanon Valley to take a 25-13 win.

The second set started strong for the Golden Wolves, as Olivia Rohrbaugh and Wolf gave Alvernia an early 2-0 lead. Following an exchange of points between both squads, the Golden Wolves trailed 10-8. Points from Olivia Jones, Rohrbaugh, and Wolf allowed Alvernia to recapture a 14-13 lead through the midway mark.

After a Golden Wolves service error, the Dutchmen scored seven of the next eight points to take a 20-15 lead. Despite late points from Treude and Wolf, Lebanon Valley scored five of the final eight points to take the second set, 25-18.

The third set became a back-and-forth affair, with Alvernia trailing Lebanon Valley 5-4 early. A four-point swing in favor of the Dutchmen forced an Alvernia timeout with the Golden Wolves trailing 9-5. Despite consistent pressure from Lebanon Valley, points from Velez and Maylin Ortiz kept the Golden Wolves within range at 15-10.

Alvernia went on to score five of the next seven points, with Jones and Marli Emrich contributing points to cut the Dutchmen's lead to 17-15. However, Lebanon Valley finished strong, closing out the set on an 8-2 run to defeat the Golden Wolves in three sets.
