Galloway, N.J. (September 19) – On Saturday morning, the Alvernia University field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 5-4 overtime game to Stockton University. The Golden Wolves were tied 3-3 at halftime, with two goals from Ava Michael and one from Kelsy McClintock. The Ospreys took the lead in the third quarter, but a late goal from Hadley Lewicki in the fourth quarter sent the game into overtime. Stockton would go on to net the game-winning goal in the 64th minute to defeat Alvernia.

How It Happened

• The Golden Wolves found themselves down early after Stockton scored in the seventh minute. However, Alvernia responded as season-leading goal scorer Ava Michael tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 11th minute.

• Entering the second quarter, the Ospreys again jumped ahead with a goal in the opening two minutes. Once again, Michael found the back of the cage, scoring her second goal of the day to tie the match at 2-2. Six minutes later, Kelsy McClintock added her name to the scoresheet with a goal to put Alvernia ahead 3-2, giving the Golden Wolves their first lead of the game. Stockton responded shortly after, sending the teams into halftime tied at three.

• The Ospreys continued the trend of early goals, tallying the lone goal of the third quarter to take a 4-3 lead into the fourth.

• After a scoreless stretch to open the quarter, Hadley Lewicki found the back of the cage in the 56th minute to even the score at 4-4 and send the game into overtime. Stockton would go on to close out the game with the game-winning goal in the 64th minute.
