READING, Pa. (September 9, 2026) - On Saturday afternoon, the Alvernia University Golden Wolves (0-1-1) drew with the United States Coast Guard Academy (1-1-0) 0-0. The Golden Wolves had some golden opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net in a war of attrition.
How It Happened
- The Golden Wolves had two early opportunities, with Taylor Flaherty and Faith Greenday both getting quality shots on goal within the first five minutes. As the game progressed, Alvernia's offense could not generate any chances, with the Bears applying consistent pressure and putting together multiple shots on goal.

- Within the final 10 minutes of the first half, the Golden Wolves were able to string together strong offensive possessions that included one corner and three shots coming from Flaherty, Kylie Hein, and Hannah Woodward. The Coast Guard goalie was able to keep the match all squared with two good saves.
- The second half opened up with some foul play, with a yellow card being assessed to Alvernia. However, defensively, the Golden Wolves locked in and held the Bears to just two shots on goal in the entire half.
- Alvernia's offense, however, had 12 shots with four golden chances but could not capitalize on those opportunities. Flaherty saw one shot sail high and left in the 73rd minute, followed by a late-half one-on-one opportunity with the goalie that flew left of the net. Mackenzie Hilferty saw a cross come in but couldn't fully connect with full power, leading to a pickup from the Coast Guard goalie.
