Leann Shirk joined the Alvernia Golden Wolves team for the Fall 2019 season. Shirk has assisted former Olympic medalist and high school All-American, Brenda Hoffman, for four years at Twin Valley High School, and another two years after she resigned. During that span she helped coach three players that were selected to USA Field Hockey national teams, one that was Berks scoring leader and three time Berks Player of the Year. Shirk has been a coach for club teams such as X-Calibur and The Nook, and has been a Field Hockey Umpire for ten years.
She played one season (2009) at Ball State University, starting every game as a freshman, and one season (2010) at Messiah College, winning MAC conference, and becoming the NCAA Division III National Championship runner up.
Leann earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Penn State University, and she resides in Schuylkill Haven, PA with her husband and three dogs.
