The 2019-20 season will be Miller's 16th with Alvernia. Over the past 15 years Miller has compiled an overall record of 259-145 record (.641 winning percentage). With 259 wins, Coach Miller is the winningest coach in Alvernia Men's Basketball history.

Under Miller’s direction the Golden Wolves have won six conference crowns, made six NCAA appearances and earned one ECAC title.

In 2013 Alvernia hosted their first NCAA championship game in 10 years and defeated Albertus Magnus 97-78. They dropped a 72-66 decision to Elite 8 participant Saint Mary’s College at home in the second round. That year Alvernia finished 24-5 which helped Miller be nominated for Division III Coach of the Year.

Coach Miller has coached three PAC Players of the Year: Garrett Etzel, Terrance Shawell, and Zach Straining. He also coached PAC Rookie of the Year Matt King and numerous all conference selections.

He has also coached 17 All-Commonwealth players over the last seven years and had all five starters from the 2012-13 squad earn all-conference honors.

Coach Miller has also coached two MAC Commonwealth players of the year: Brian Parker (2013-14) and Marquis Marshall (2016-17), along with MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year Malik Green (2018-19).

Miller served as the assistant coach to Jack McCloskey for 10 years before taking the head position for the 2004-05 season. During Miller’s time as an assistant the Crusaders compiled 192-87 record, won two PAC titles, and had four NCAA appearances.

Winning championships is synonymous for Miller-lead programs. Miller arrived at Alvernia after a record-breaking career at Reading High School that spanned from 1988-1994. During his six years as head coach at Reading High he compiled a record of 145-31 (.824 winning percentage) and lead the Red Knights to an impressive four consecutive Berks County championships. During that championship run Millers teams had a record breaking 60 consecutive victories vs. Berks County opponents ( A modern day record).

At Reading High School Miller had the privilege of coaching Donyell Marshall who went on to play at the University of Connecticut and had a great NBA career. Miller was the recipient of numerous awards during his time at Reading High including three Berks County Coach of the Year awards in 1990, 1991, 1994.

Miller also coached one year at Kutztown High School in 1987 with a record of 14-10 winning the division title, and division coach of the year honors.

Miller's coaching experience dates back to 1980 at Reading High School where he was the junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach from 1980- 1987.

In 2009 Miller was selected to the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (Berks Chapter).
Miller graduated from Holy Name High School in Reading in 1976, and went to earn a B.S in Business Administration from Delaware Valley in 1980. He earned his teaching certificate in business education/cooperative education from Temple University in 1984, and received his Master’s Degree from Wilkes University.

Coach Miller is an active member of the NABC and the PSEA and on the board of directors of RBBA. Miller and his wife, Erika, currently reside in Reading. They are proud parents of Karoline (Alvernia '13) and Michael Jr. (Alvernia '18), an assistant coach of the Men's Basketball team at Alvernia University.
