Stern played in and started in 17 games for the Golden Wolves during his sophomore campaign and was the main goaltender for Alvernia during the season. Stern posted a 7-8-2 overall record in 933 minutes played and recorded one shutout which came in the regular season finale against Lebanon Valley and it was the first shutout in program history. Stern tallied 429 saves, recorded a .896 save percentage and a 3.21 goals per game average. Stern recorded a season high 34 saves on three occasions during the season, one came in the shutout victory over Lebanon Valley and the other two came in contests against Arcadia. Stern tallied 25 or more saves in ten games during his sophomore year and posted six games of 30 or more saves.

Stern appeared in eight games for the Golden Wolves in goal and finished with a 5-3 record during his first year. Stern recorded wins against Rivier, Neumann, Stevenson, Buffalo State and Chatham and finished with a 3.51 goals against average. Stern recorded 20 or more saves in seven of the eight games he played in and recorded three games with 30 or more saves with 30 against Stevenson and Buffalo State and a season high 34 against Stevenson in game two of the series. Stern finished the season with 213 saves and a .888 save percentage.
