Rayne deMarteleire

Rayne deMarteleire joined the Alvernia University staff in July of 2019 after nine seasons with Rosemont College.

deMarteleire coached the Golden Wolves to nine wins in her first season leading the program, tying the most wins in a season since the 2012-2013 season. deMarteleire led the Golden Wolves to a 37-27 overall record and a 18-20 record in the MAC Commonwealth since the 2020 season. Under deMarteleire, Alvernia has made the MAC Commonwealth tournament twice and made it to the MAC Commonwealth Championship game in 2022-2023. deMarteleire also led the Golden Wolves to a 2022-2023 ECAC Championship and has produced four All-MAC Commonwealth honorees, including a first team selection, two second team selections and an honorable mention. deMarteleire has led the Golden Wolves to back to back seasons of 12 or more wins for the first time since the 2010-2012 seasons and Alvernia’s 20 wins in 2022-2023 is the most in a season since the 2004-2005 campaign. deMarteleire led the Golden Wolves to their first ECAC Title since 1994-1995 and the first appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game in program history. deMarteleire earned MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year and D3Hoops Region V Coach of the Year honors for the 2022-2023 campaign.

At Rosemont College, deMarteleire took over the program in the summer of 2014, and led the Ravens to an overall record of 73-58, and a 49-31 record in conference. deMarteleire is the only women’s basketball coach at Rosemont College to post a winning career record. The Ravens made it to four postseason appearances in the five seasons under deMarteleire's guidance.

In 2018-2019, deMarteleire led the Ravens to the best record in program history with a 24-4 season, including a 19 game winning streak and a perfect 18-0 performance in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC). deMarteleire led the Ravens to their first ever CSAC Championship, first ever Regional Ranking, and their first ever NCAA appearance. She was also named the CSAC Coach of the Year.

In her five years as Head Coach at Rosemont College, deMarteleire recruited and developed two All-Conference Honorable Mention players, one Second Team All-Conference Player, four First Team All-Conference Players, two Rookie of the Years, one Player of the Year, and three 1,000 point scorers.  deMarteleire recruited and developed Liz Coyne, a DIII News All-American and D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region Third Team.  Coyne finished her career with 2,136 points and 1,123 rebounds.  deMarteleire also recruited and developed Division I transfer, Ashley Murray, who was named CSAC Player of the Year in 2019 and was named First Team All-Atlantic Region.

deMarteleire began her coaching career as the assistant coach for Rosemont from 2010-2014 and her impact on the program was felt immediately. After winning just 29 percent of their games in the four years before deMarteleire took a spot on the bench, Rosemont improved dramatically, winning 51 percent of their games and making the playoffs two seasons in a row. The team also had the second most wins (17) in one season in program history. As an assistant, deMarteleire worked and developed Ashley Montecchio who was named CSAC Player of the Year for the 2012-2013 season.  She finished her career with 1,707 points and was named Division III Statistical Scoring Leader, averaging 24.9 points per game.

Prior to beginning her coaching career, deMarteleire was a standout athlete at St. Pius X High School, where she is the second all-time leading scorer with 1,372 points.  She led her team to four straight District 1 titles, a Pac-10 Championships and four PIAA Tournament appearance. After high school, deMarteleire attended Widener University, which is a MAC Commonwealth member, from 2006-2010. As a freshman, deMarteleire was named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and in her junior year, she helped guide her team to a MAC Commonwealth Championship.  deMarteleire was also named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll all four years at Widener University.

deMarteleire earned her Masters of Education from Cabrini University and her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Widener University.  She currently resides in Reading, Pa.
