Finished his freshman season with an overall record of 29-10 at the 197lb weight class. Recorded four pins, one technical fall, and six major decision on the season. Earned silver at the MAC Championships after losing a closely contested 4-1 decision to Michael Dooley of Stevens Tech. Qualified for the 2020 Division III National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after finishing in second at the Southeast Regionals. Ellis would not get a chance to compete at the National Championship after it was canceled due to the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic.
