Deschanel Mercado returns to the Alvernia University men's basketball staff for his second season as an assistant coach in 2026-27.
Mercado joined the Golden Wolves prior to the 2025-26 season. Before coming to Alvernia, Mercado spent four years as a student manager with the Robert Morris University men's basketball program.
During his time at Robert Morris, he gained Division I experience in day-to-day program operations, practices, player development, and game preparation.
Mercado was also part of a Robert Morris program that won a conference championship and made multiple postseason appearances during his time with the Colonials.
At Alvernia, Mercado assists with the day-to-day operations of the men's basketball program, including practices, player development, scouting, recruiting, and game preparation.
