Jace Winders

Jace Winders joined Alvernia as the Director of Esports in February 2026 following two and a half years as the Esports Coordinator for Montgomery County Community College.

“We are thrilled to announce that Jace Winders will be leading our Esports program moving forward,” said Beddick. “His experience, enthusiasm, and positive energy make him an outstanding fit to elevate our program.”

During his time at Montgomery County, Winders managed the roster and athletes at multiple levels of playing. He led the program to five championship winning teams in both NJCAA and ECAC league play, including a NJCAA National Championship in Marvel Rivals last year.

“I am super pumped to be a part of the Alvernia team and to be with a program that invests so heavily in and matches my passion for esports,” said Winders. “I am very excited about elevating Alvernia’s teams to the next level and competing for championships.”

Prior to his time at Montgomery County, Winders spent a year at Regina High School in Iowa City as the Events Broadcast Coordinator. He also spent four years as the Head Coach of League of Legends for the University of Iowa. 

“I am looking forward to using the vast amount of resources Alvernia provides to take the program to the next level both competitively and on a visibility level,” said Winders. “Alvernia’s campus provides many opportunities to host events and showcase what the program can offer to the wider student community.”

“At Alvernia, we have the facilities, resources, scholarships, partnerships, and institutional commitment to become one of the premier collegiate esports programs in the region,” added Beddick. “We are confident that Jace will play a pivotal role in recruiting talented student-athletes while also fostering an exceptional overall experience for every member of our esports community.”

Winders, who is from Iowa, is a 2023 graduate of the University of Iowa. He earned his bachelors in marketing management with a minor in sports recreation and management.
