Mike Tufaro

Mike Tufaro joined Alvernia’s staff in 2026 as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach following five seasons at FDU-Florham in New Jersey. Tufaro started in the spring of 2019 with the Devils. He started with FDU as the offensive line coach before being elevated to the offensive coordinator role in 2022.

At FDU, Tufaro produced 21 All-MAC selections from 2022 through 2025. His 2024 offense ranked #1 in the MAC in scoring with 32.55 points per game, total offense with 409.5 yards per game, and passing offense with 239.8 yards per game. The 2024 offense also had the least amount of turnovers in the MAC. On the national scale, FDU ranked fifth in the nation in 2024 in time of possession and seventh in completion percentage (71.4%).

Tufaro coached two-time All-MAC Quarterback Ryon Thomas. In three years as the starter under Tufaro, Thomas finished his career with just under 7,000 yards of total offense. He finished his career with 44 passing touchdowns and 21 rushing touchdowns. Thomas now plays professionally in Germany. 

Prior to his time at FDU Florham, Tufaro was the running backs coach and head JV coach at SUNY Morrisville from 2017-2019. He began his coaching career at his alma mater of Bluefield College in 2016.

Tufaro is a native of Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Bluefield College in 2015 and his Masters in Sport Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2021.
