Immaculata, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2007) – Sophomore forward Janelle Lynch (Macungie, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored three second-half goals to lead Alvernia College to a 6-0 win over Immaculata University Wednesday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference field hockey action at Immaculata.

Alvernia, which improved to 7-0 in conference play, jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when senior back Lauren Yoder (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley) scored unassisted in the eighth minute. The score remained 1-0 through the rest of the first half and freshman Leslie Michael (Zionsville, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) scored 24 seconds after the break for a 2-0 lead.

Lynch scored her first of three in the 40th minute, and put home her second 10 minutes later. Both goals were unassisted. Junior Christy Miller (Alburtis, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored in the 61st minute assisted by freshman Kaitlin Prutzman (Hamburg, Pa./Hamburg), and senior Shayna Clark (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) set up Lynch for her final goal in the 64th minute.

Alvernia dominated the flow of the game outshooting the host Mighty Macs 24-1 and earning 19 corners to three for Immaculata. Alvernia junior Audrey Hoffman (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) didn't need a single save to record her second straight shutout and fifth of the season.

Alvernia will continue the conference schedule hosting the College of Notre Dame on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
