Alvernia Falls Just Short Versus Eastern

Sikorski Hammers Down 19 Kills

BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2007) – Senior middle hitter Amy Sikorski (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) gave a valiant effort with a match-best 19 kills, but Alvernia College fell short in a 3-0 loss to 10-time defending Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champion Eastern University Wednesday afternoon in women's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.

Despite facing a defense stacked to stop her, Sikorski still managed to rack up 19 kills and just three errors on 44 swings through three games. Junior libero Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) was stellar on back row defense in game one as Alvernia took the Eagles to the limit before the guests prevailed 31-29.

Game two was much of the same with Eastern winning a back-and-forth affair again by the slimmest of margins, 30-28. With most of the wind gone from the sails for game three, Eastern earned a 30-19 decision in the final game.

Crimi led the team with 16 digs while younger sister Leah Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) fought through an illness to record 34 assists and 12 digs.

Alvernia will wrap up the regular season hosting Moravian College for non-conference game next Wednesday and Gwynedd-Mercy College in the PAC regular season final on Thursday.
