Brandi Light (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) netted her third hat trick of the season and freshman goalie
Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made nine saves to help Alvernia College secure a 3-3 tie at Cabrini College Wednesday evening in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women's soccer action.
Light tallied the final goal of the game with just over a minute left in regulation and Kelley made two saves in the second overtime to preserve the tie. Cabrini keeper Gianna Porretta made half of her eight saves on the day in the extra time.
Light opened the scoring in the 26th minute heading home a rebound. Cabrini scored to knot the score at 1-1 in the 40th minute and it remained tied nearly 20 minutes into the second half.
The Cavaliers (6-7-3, 4-3-2 PAC) scored in the 65th minute for a 2-1 lead, but Light erased that with her 18th goal of the season assisted by freshman
Stephanie Loftus (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) just three minutes later.
Cabrini's Dana Nardello put home her second goal of the night in the 75th minute and the hosts had a 3-2 lead until the waning minutes of regulation. With 1:22 showing on the clock, Light completed her third hat trick of the season scoring unassisted to force overtime at 3-3.
Alvernia (6-8-3, 3-5-1 PAC) fired three shots at Porretta in the first overtime, but the Cabrini keeper was up to the task each time.
Cabrini finished with a 20-16 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Alvernia will wrap up the regular season hosting Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday for homecoming.
