Moravian Edges Alvernia 3-1

Sikorski Paces Crusaders With 23 Kills

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 24, 2007) – Alvernia College senior Amy Sikorski (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) surpassed 20 kills in a match for the second time this season and finished with a match-high 23 in a 3-1 loss to Moravian College Wednesday evening in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Physical Education Center.

Moravian took a 2-0 lead on the strength of 30-21 and 30-24 scores in the opening games. Alvernia battled back with a 31-29 win in the third game and Moravian build a big lead in game three and hung on for a 30-26 win in the deciding game.

Alvernia junior Jenn Stigura (Barto, Pa./Central Catholic) also reached double figures in kills with 13. Freshman Leah Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) finished with 40 assists and three Crusaders had 17 or more digs led by junior Lauren Crimi (Nazareth, Pa./Notre Dame) who finished with 24.

Alvernia will host Gwynedd-Mercy for an important Pennsylvania Athletic Conference match on Thursday. The Crusaders (8-13) need a win to qualify for the conference championship.
