BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2007) – Senior forward Brandi Light (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) built on her recently acquired career goals record with a hat trick Saturday afternoon to lead Alvernia College to an impressive 6-1 win over Immaculata University in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Light scored her 13th and 14th goals of the season in the opening 10 minutes of play and the Crusaders (6-6-2, 3-3 PAC) had the early 2-0 lead. Light set up the next goal by freshman Alex Stengel (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove) and in the process tied the career assist record at Alvernia with the 12th of her career.
Patricia Lapinsky (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas More) scored for a 4-0 lead and Stephanie Loftus (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) assisted Kate McCaffrey (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) on a goal that gave the hosts a 5-0 lead at the break.

Light completed the hat trick just over two minutes after the halftime break, assisted by Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's Catholic) and Immaculata (7-6, 3-5 PAC) avoided the shutout with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute.

Alvernia held a 24-6 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner. Senior Laura-Beth Diggs (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial), playing just her second game in net, made three saves for the Crusaders while her counterpart Jessica Gaburo stopped 11 for Immaculata.

Alvernia will hit the road for a three-game stretch starting with a 4:00 p.m. game at Neumann College this Wednesday.
