Misericordia Tops Alvernia In Overtime

Dallas, Pa. (Sept. 22, 2007) – Misericordia University scored six minutes into overtime to earn a 4-3 win over Alvernia College Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference men's soccer action at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alvernia senior Kyle Keller (Mount Penn, Pa./Antietam) scored early to put the Crusaders (2-6, 0-2 PAC) up 1-0, but Misericordia came back with two first-half goals for a 2-1 lead at the break.

Misericordia added a third goal in the second half for a two-goal cushion, but Alvernia fought back to tie the score on penalty kick goals by Tyler Absalom (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) and Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown).

Junior goalie Richard Kessler (Reading, Pa./Reading), who made six saves on the day, stopped an MU penalty kick in the second half to help the Crusaders force overtime.

Misericordia held a 14-10 advantage in shots and 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Both goalies recorded six saves.

Alvernia will return home to host Richard Stockton on Monday afternoon.
