BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (September 26, 2007) – Alvernia got back on the winning track with a 4-1 victory over PAC foe Marywood University (3-6, 0-2 PAC) this afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field. The Crusaders (3-7, 1-2 PAC) jumped out to an early lead when they scored their first goal in the third minute and never looked back.

After being held scoreless on Monday afternoon for 90 minutes, Alvernia found themselves up 2-0 in the sixth minute of the game this afternoon. Freshman Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) scored his team leading fifth goal of the season when he perfectly placed the ball around Marywood's diving goalie into the corner of the net. He would quickly collect his sixth goal of the season less than four minutes later when senior Kyle Keller (Mount Penn, PA/Antietam) provided him with a perfect pass to the front of the net which he quickly shot in to put Alvernia up 2-0.

The score remained 2-0 until the second half when junior Tim Marcinek (Philadelphia, PA/LaSalle) was assisted by Michael Colozzi (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) for his first goal of the season in the 49th minute. Sophomore Adam Lush (Reading, PA/Muhlenburg) put the Crusaders up 4-0 in the 63rd minute when he ripped a long shot into the upper left corner of the net.

The Pacers of Marywood battled back to prevent the shut out when they netted their lone goal of the game in the 86th minute.

Both teams had eight corner kick opportunities and Alvernia outshot the Pacers 18-15. Crusader goalie junior Richard Kessler (Reading, PA/Reading) had nine saves.

Alvernia will return to action Saturday evening at 7:00pm at cross-town rival Albright College.
