BOX SCORE
Doylestown, Pa. (Sept. 5, 2007) – Alvernia College battled back to within a goal in the final minutes and saw a pair of second half shots bounce off the crossbar in a 3-2 loss at Delaware Valley College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action.
Del Val junior Elise Dauber tallied the hat trick for the Aggies (1-2) in the win as Alvernia lost for the first time this season to fall to 2-1. Alvernia junior
Danielle Fitzpatrick (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) made five saves for the Crusaders.
Dauber put the host Aggies on the board early scoring unassisted in the sixth minute of play. She tallied again in the 42nd minute for a 2-0 lead which Del Val took into halftime. All three of Dauber's goals were breakaway goals. Her third, eight minutes into the second half made it 3-1 Aggies after Alvernia senior
Brandi Light (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) knocked home a feed from
Casey Weber (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) in the third minute of the second half.
The Alvernia offense, which built a 17-14 advantage in shots, hit the crossbar twice in the second half and finally connected to pull within one when Light set up
Laura-Beth Diggs (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) for a header in the 88th minute.
Light has scored in each of the three games this season and leads the team with five goals and two assists. Alvernia will continue its four-game road trip with a noon game at Franklin & Marshall this Saturday.
