Reading, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2008) - Moravian College (8-10) defeated Alvernia University (2-12) 3-0 Wednesday evening in non-conference women's volleyball action at Johnson Hall.

The Greyhounds ran out to a 2-0 lead winning the first two games 25-21 and 25-16.  Alvernia battled back looking to extend the match, but the hosts took the third game by a 28-26 count.

Alvernia was led by freshman Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) with six kills and senior Lauren Crimi (Easton, Pa./Notre Dame) with seven digs.

Alvernia will host a tri-match this weekend with Cedar Crest and Penn State-Berks.
