Reading, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2008) - Lightning interrupted the women's soccer game between Alvernia University (5-5) and Albright College (5-3) Tuesday night pushing the tilt to Wednesday and both teams combined to strike six times in the second half with Albright earning the 4-2 win in non-conference action at Shirk Statium.

The Lions opened the scoring in the 60th minute and went up 2-0 with another goal in the 72nd minute.  Alvernia quickly regrouped after the second goal and Jenna Sinko (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) cut the deficit in half scoring unassisted two minutes later.  The Crusaders continued to push for the equalizer, but Albright netted a pair of goals in a two-minute span to take a 4-1 lead with under 10 minutes remaining.

Alvernia show fight getting a goal from Kate Wimberg (Galloway, N.J./Sacred Heart) with under a minute to play, but it was Albright that emerged with the win, its ninth in the 12-game series dating back to 1997.  The six-goal game is the highest scoring game to date this season for the Crusaders and breaks a string of three straight 1-0 games in which Alvernia went 2-1.

Freshman Kristen Mantle (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) went the full 90 minutes for Alvernia and made seven saves.  Albright had an 18-11 advantage in shots, while Alvernia led 3-2 in corners.

Alvernia will travel to FDU-Florham for a Freedom Conference game on Saturday.
