BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 29, 2008) - On a brutally windy day that kept most people indoors, Delaware Valley College (12-3-1, 6-2) scored a pair of first half goals en route to a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (6-12, 1-6) Wednesday afternoon in Freedom Conference women's soccer action at Sovereign Bank Sports Park.

The Aggies locked up the second seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference championship and will host a semifinal game next Wednesday.  Alvernia falls out of playoff contention with the loss and will host Manhattanville College in the season finale this Saturday.

DVC scored both of its goals going into the wind which gusted up to as much as 30-40 mph, and both in fairly similar fashion.  Elise Carpenter crossed a ball from the left side of the field to the far side of the box and Sam Loeber touched it across the goal mouth where Johanna Lovallo finished her seventh goal of the season in the 28th minute.  Six minutes later Emily Perryman crossed the ball, again from the left and again to Loeber, who this time found leading scorer Elise Dauber who netted her 17th goal of the season.

Alvernia sophomore Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made nine saves on the day, six of them after the halftime break.  Her counterpart, Cortney Bower stopped a pair of the Aggies.
