Reading, Pa. (Apr. 5, 2008) – Senior Tim Carroll (Bensalem, Pa./Conwell Egan) went 5-for-7 and Alvernia College racked up a season-best 27 hits in a 24-11 win over Neumann College Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference baseball action at Alvernia.

Carroll tripled and scored in the second and rapped run-scoring doubles in the third and sixth innings. He finished the day a home run short of the cycle. Freshman Brendan Barry (Franklin Square, Pa./St. Mary's) was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs, and seven other Crusaders picked up multiple hits on the day.

Alvernia used six different pitchers to get through the day after starter Zach Grey (York, Pa./York Catholic) only lasted two innings before leaving with arm trouble.

After giving up a run on three walks and a sac fly in the first, Alvernia (19-6, 8-2 PAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the first, three in the second and sent 11 batters to the plate in a seven-run third for a 14-1 lead.

Alvernia and Neumann will complete the three-game series Sunday afternoon at Neumann.
