Volleyball Falls At Manhattanville

Despite A Late Rally, Crusaders Fall In Three Straight Sets

Purchase, NY (Sept. 20, 2008) - The Crusader Volleyball team fell to 0-3 in the Freedom Conference (2-9 overall) after a 3-0 loss at Manhatanville Saturday afternoon at the Kennedy Gymnasium.  Manhattanville took the first game easily 25-16, the second game 25-19 and the third game by a narrower margin of 26-24.  With the win Manhattanville improves to 3-7 (1-2 Freedom).

The Crusaders were led by freshman Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, PA/Parkland) who had eight kills on the day, and fellow freshman Christina Edling (Boyertown, PA/St. Pius X) who paced the defense with ten digs.  Alvernia was hurt by their offense that managed a kill percentage of only .061 over the three games.

Alvernia will look for their third win of the season when they travel to Philadelphia University on Sept. 27th.
