BOX SCORE
Glenside, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2008) – Alvernia College (4-4) surrendered a first half goal and couldn't find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to Arcadia University (4-4) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Arcadia.
Alvernia will start its first season of Freedom Conference competition on Saturday when it travels to fellow first-year conference member Misericordia. The Crusaders have posted four wins to four losses heading into the conference schedule.
Arcadia scored the only goal of the day on Tuesday when Janelle Jablonski tucked a through ball past Alvernia keeper
Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) in the 35th minute. Kelley went the full 90 minutes and made seven saves for the Crusaders.
The Alvernia speed kept the Scarlet Knights on their heels for much of the game, but the offense hit crossbars and posts, and Arcadia keeper Jennie Groves made six saves to preserve the shutout.
Alvernia is in the midst of a four-game stretch of road games and will return home to face Penn State-Berks on October 6.
