Alvernia Goes OT Again In 2-1 Loss To F&M

Crusaders Even at 2-2 In Overtime Games

BOX SCORE

Lancaster, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2008) - With her eighth goal of the season just three minutes into play, Alvernia freshman Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) has now scored six of the team's last seven goals, but Franklin & Marshall (3-4) spoiled the celebration with a double-overtime goal for a 2-1 win Wednesday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at F&M.

It was the fourth time in eight games the Crusaders (5-3) have gone to overtime this season and they now hold a 2-2 record in games that go beyond regulation.

Eby put the Crusaders ahead at 3:19 converting a pass from captain Christy Yousaitis (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson).  Alvernia remained up a goal until 12 minutes into the second half when Eileen O'Reilly put back her own rebound to knot the score at 1-1.

Neither team scored for the remainer of regulation and the first overtime, and F&M netted the game-winner with just over four minutes left before the end of the second overtime.

Aby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) entered the game after halftime and made seven saves.  F&M keeper Jennifer Burdo stopped 10 for the Diplomats.

In overtime games this season Alvernia lost at Oneonta State in the season opener, defeated Utica in penalty strokes in game two, and beat Susquehanna 2-1 in game four.  Alvernia dropped a 2-1 decision to F&M in overtime to start the 2007 season.

Alvernia will open up its Freedom Conference schedule on Friday with an evening trip to FDU-Florham.
