Lycoming Takes 2-0 Decision At Alvernia

Kelley Saves Six For Crusaders

BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 17, 2009) - Lycoming College (7-8-1, 1-3) scored once early and once late in a 2-0 win over Alvernia University (3-13, 0-4) on a rainy, cold Saturday night Commonwealth Conference women's soccer game at Schlager Memorial Field.

Kaitlin Horn hit a screwball that got past Alvernia keeper Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) in the 11th minute to put the Warriors up 1-0.  Both teams had chances for the remainder of the half, but neither broke through and the game hit halftime with Lycoming holding the 1-0 lead.

The first 35 minutes of the second half was much the same with Lycoming finding an insurance goal with just under seven minutes to play.

Kelley finished the night with six saves for the Crusaders.  Her counterpart, Chelsea Powers stopped five for the Warriors.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule on Tuesday night hosting crosstown rival Albright College.
