BOX SCORE

Annville, ,Pa. (Oct. 25, 2009) - Sophomore forward Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) scored her sixth goal of the season early in the contest to give Alvernia University (9-8, 1-4) a 1-0 lead, but Lebanon Valley (14-2, 4-1) came back with two first-half goals and two in the final 10 minutes for a 4-1 win Sunday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action at LVC.

Landis made good on one of Alvernia's two corners, but the offense of the seventh ranked Dutchmen kept up the pressure on sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) who finished with 15 saves.

LVC had 16 shots in the first half tying the game in the 18th minute and taking the lead in the 27th minute.

The second half was a scoreless affair for 25 minutes until the Dutchmen tallied their third goal of the day with just under 10 minutes to play.  They added the fourth goal on a corner play after time had expired.

Landis was set up on a penalty corner insert from Lauren Guido (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood).

Alvernia wraps up the regular season this week with a Tuesday trip to Albright and a Thursday trip to Cabrini College.
