BOX SCORE BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (October 5, 2009) - The Crusaders (3-7) fell to visiting Richard Stockton (10-2) by a score of 2-0 this evening in non-conference men's soccer action on Schlager Memorial Field.  Stockton is currently ranked fifth in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region and they are also receiving votes for a national ranking.

This first half was a back and forth affair that saw Alvernia out shoot the Osprey's 6-4 with neither team being able to find the back of the net.  Osprey goalie Lou Herring would need three saves in the first half to preserve the shut out, while Alvernia goalie Benjamin Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) did not face any shots on goal.

The second half started off as more of the same, this time with Stockton firing off nine shots to Alvernia's five.  The Osprey's would break the scoreless tie in the 71st minute when Cody Letsinger netted his first goal of the season assisted by Devin Reilley.  Crusader goalie Diller was able to save a point blank shot from the Osprey's, but was unable to recover after the rebound was quickly redirected back into net.  They would add their second goal of the game in the 86th minute thanks to a sliding shot from Sean McCallum.

Alvernia will return to action October 10th at 3:00pm when they travel to Lebanon Valley for a Commonwealth Conference match up.
