BOX SCORE
Center Valley, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2009) - Alvernia University (2-8) junior
Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) made a season high 17 saves, just two short of her career high, but DeSales University (3-6) got through for a pair of goals late in the first half in a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at DeSales.
Kelley made 10 of her 17 saves in the first half, but the Bulldogs earned a penalty kick in the 39th minute and made good on the free kick, and scored again four minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Kelley held DSU off the board for the remainder of play and Alvernia cut the gap in half when
Amy Mesce (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) notched her third of the year in the 67th minute assisted by
Alex Stengel (Avondale, Pa./Avon Grove).
Alvernia returns home to host Elizabethtown in the Commonwealth Conference opener on Monday.
