York, Pa. (Sept. 4, 2009) - Sophomore Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Bayard Rustin) scored in the seventh minute of play assisted by Christy Yousaitis (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) on a penalty corner and sophomore Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) made six saves as Alvernia University (1-1) evened up its record with a 1-0 win at York College on Friday.

Eby made four of her saves in the first half and the Crusader defense limited the Spartans to just a pair of shots after the halftime break.  Alvernia finished with a 12-6 advantage in shots even with the Spartans' 7-4 edge in penalty corners.  Claire Retizke made eight saves in net for York.

Alvernia will return home to host Delaware Valley College next Wednesday under the lights.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.
