BOX SCORE

Glenside, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2010) - Alvernia University (6-11, 2-3) fell into an 0-2 hole but stormed back with wins in three straight sets for a 3-2 win over Arcadia University (8-13, 0-5) Wednesday evening in a Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball match at Arcadia.

The Knights opened the match with a 25-21 win in the first set then a convincing 25-9 win in set number two, and looked to be in line for their first conference win of the season, but the Crusaders had other plans.

Alvernia stormed back with a 25-20 win in set three then squeaked out a 27-25 win to level the match before finishing off the comeback with a 15-11 win in the fifth set.  It was the third straight five-set match for the Crusaders and the second in a row that saw them overcome an 0-2 deficit.

Alvernia got a team-high 10 kills from junior Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM), 27 assists from Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), and 21 digs from Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh).

The Crusaders return home to host Bryn Mawr on Monday.
