Late Goal Gives Alvernia 1-0 Win At Lycoming

Martyn Scores Third Of The Year, Gilbert Saves Two

Williamsport, Pa. (Oct. 16, 2010) - Sophomore Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) scored on his only shot of the game with less than four minutes remaining in regulation and Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) made a pair of saves as Alvernia University (8-5-1, 2-1) earned an important shutout victory at Lycoming (6-8-1, 0-3-1) Saturday afternoon.

Martyn was set up by senior Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) at 86:51 and knocked a shot over the keeper and into the net.

With its second win of the season Alvernia moves into a tie for third place in the conerence with Arcadia.  Both teams are three points behind Messiah and Etown, who are both 3-0 in league play.  Alvernia hosts Messiah on Wednesday.

Gilbert recorded a pair of shutouts this week in conference play blanking Albright on Tuesday.
