Crusaders Down Bryn Mawr In Four

Alvernia Defeats Visiting Owls Three Games To One

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 18, 2010) - Alvernia University (7-11) defeated visiting Bryn Mawr College (9-9) this evening in non-conference action three games to one.  Alvernia took the first two sets by identical scores of 25-22 before the Owls rallied back to take the third set 25-21.  The Crusaders regrouped and won the match with a 25-20 fourth set.

Alvernia was paced on offense by Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) who had a game-high 16 kills, she also had two solo blocks.  Sophomore setter # Tori Beck# (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) posted 30 assists through the four games and a team-high three aces.  In the back court libero Toni Maurer led Alvernia with 16 digs, while also adding two service aces.

The Crusaders will return to action with a Commonwealth Conference match-up against Lebanon Valley College tomorrow evening at 7:00pm at home.
