BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2010) – Junior Amy Mesce (Pittstown, NJ/Del.Val. Regional) score her team-leading 12th goal of the season as Alvernia (12-3-4) defeated visiting Delaware Valley College (5-11-2) this evening in non-conference action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Alvernia dominated the Aggies in the first half outshooting them 7-0 and holding the 5-0 corner advantage. Mesce got Alvernia on the board in the eighth minute as she recovered a rebound off an Aggie defensive player, and after a quick touch shot it to the lower right of the net just around the goalie. The Crusaders netted a first-half insurance goal thanks to # Katelyn Gill#'s (State College, Pa./State College) second goal of the season in the 39th minute.

The second half saw the Aggies battle back with five shots, but they were unable to find the back of the net as keeper Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) tallied three saves to post her ninth shut-out of the season. Alvernia was held scoreless on seven shots in the second half.

The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Arcadia for their final regular season Commonwealth Conference game at 12:00pm.
