Mesce's Ninth Leads Alvernia Past Rutgers-Camden

Kelley Earns Fifth Shutout

Camden, N.J. (Oct. 6, 2010) - Junior Amy Mesce (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) scored her ninth goal of the season and ran her goals scored streak to four straight as Alvernia University (9-2-2) shut out Rutgers-Camden (1-9-2) Wednesday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at Camden.

Mesce finished a pass from freshman Laura Mauroschadt (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) in the 44th minute of play and Kristen Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) wasn't tested in recording her fifth shutout of the season.

Mesce becomes the third player in school history to reach 20 career goals and moves into sole possession of third place in career points with 43 (20 goals, 3 assists).  The team pulled within one shutout of the season record with its seventh.

Alvernia returns home to face Lebanon Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference match up on Saturday.
