Reading, Pa. (Oct. 9, 2010) - The Dutchmen from Lebanon Valley (7-4, 1-0 Comm.) scored a goal less than three minutes into the game that stood as the game winner to defeat host Alvernia University (6-5-1, 0-2 Comm.) this afternoon in Commonwealth Conference action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Lebanon Valley opened the game with a flurry of activity that allowed Andrew Cooper to receive a short pass at the 18 from Chris Hall and quickly shoot it past Alvernia's defense into the right corner of the net.  This was Cooper's fourth goal of the season, and one that stood as the game-winner.  The Dutchmen continued their offensive pressure with seven shots in the first half, but three saves from Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) kept the score at 1-0 for LVC.

The second half saw LVC again fire off seven shots and Alvernia battle back with four of their own.  Despite having their chances, including a long shot from Nate Swarr (Quaryville, Pa./Solanco) that hit the post in the 90th minute, the Crusaders were unable to penetrate the Dutchmen defense for a goal.

Alvernia returns to action on Oct. 12th when they travel to Albright College and look for their first Commonwealth Conference win.
